What Is the Faculty Fellowship?

The Faculty Fellowship program at the Institute for Healthcare Access empowers Texas A&M researchers to uncover solutions that expand access to care. Fellows are selected for their expertise in health, law, policy, and related fields—and their bold ideas to address systemic challenges.

Over a two-year term, fellows collaborate across disciplines, receive research support, and help shape the institute’s strategic priorities through education, service, and scholarship.

Health Access Needs Bold Thinkers

Access to health care remains out of reach for many Texans. Our fellows work across the intersections of law, policy, and clinical practice to break down barriers and create scalable, equitable change.

What Faculty Fellows Gain

The fellowship offers unique opportunities to expand your research, network, and leadership.

  • Support from and collaboration with the institute’s directors who serve as experts in health law, policy, ethics, human-centered design and systems thinking
  • Strategic role in shaping institute initiatives
  • Collaboration across Texas A&M schools and campuses
  • Opportunities to publish, teach and present with institutional support

What Fellows are Saying

Hear directly from past fellows about how the program has shaped their work.

The Institute for Healthcare Access has given me the chance to work across disciplines in ways I never could on my own. Whether teaching physicians how to better care for survivors of sexual assault or helping clinicians navigate new laws that impact the care of women with early pregnancy complications, the institute has provided the platform and support to bring people together for the good of our patients.

2024 Cohort

Our work centers on giving research participants agency with the data they share in their patient journey. Our interactions with the institute have enlightened important cultural, ethical, and legal considerations toward our efforts to optimize the patient role in data sharing. The multidisciplinary nature of the Fellows program gives us broadened perspective and ways of thinking about our work that would not have otherwise occurred to us.
